How To Care For Baby Boys After A Circumcision
Boy mamas can relate to how dreadful it is hearing their baby boys cry during a circumcision. The pain they go through is unquantifiable. While circumcision is carried out for medical or religious reasons, new mums should prioritise aftercare for their baby boys.
Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin of the penis. Note that a circumcision should be carried out in the hospital by a medical professional. Please do not allow anyone to circumcise your baby except a medical professional.
Here are five ways to care for your baby after a circumcision to aid wound healing:
Apply petroleum jelly or olive oil to the site to aid wound healing and prevent it from sticking to the diaper.
Avoid wearing your baby tight clothings. If possible, wear light pants for your baby for easy airflow.
Do not immerse your baby in a bath for too long. A circumsicion is like a fresh wound. Use a light sponge bath instead.
Keep the area clean and dry always.
Be on the watch for discharge as it may cause infections. If your baby keeps bleeding, visit the hospital immediately.
Do not massage or use hot towels on the area of circumcision.
