Is Palmwine Safe When Breastfeeding? 🤱
5 tips to help you educate your toddler about sexual health
Hi mama 😍
How are you today? January is gradually coming to an end. I pray all your goals and aspirations for the new year are still growing strong 💪
Here’s a reminder that no matter your parenting style, you're an exceptional woman and mother ❤️💐
Let's dive into this week’s treat 😋
Myth or Fact: Palm Wine Increases Breastmilk Production
Breastfeeding is a beautiful and tumultuous journey. However, every mother’s breastfeeding journey is different. During the first few weeks postpartum, breast milk flow may fluctuate for different women.
Eating rich meals that boost breastmilk production is paramount. In the course, it is a known practise for some mothers to drink palm wine to stimulate breast milk production.
Palm wine is an alcoholic beverage which already flags it off as a drink of choice as a nursing mother. While it has some benefits, a small percentage can pass through breastmilk and into a baby’s digestive system.
There is no scientific evidence that proves palm wine is a breast milk stimulant. It is alcoholic and it’s best to avoid it entirely when breastfeeding.
5 Ways To Educate Your Toddler About Sexual Health
The topic of sex education is often met with shyness and sometimes disdain in Nigeria. Most times, toddlers are left to navigate their journeys depending on what they learn from school or from the internet (which is misleading for the most part).
Sexual education is an integral part of every child’s life. They need to know more about their body and how it works. It gets worse when they get this information from strangers and they might sell them the wrong image.
In this short guide, you'll learn how to teach your toddler age-appropriate sex education without the weird feeling. Here are five tips to help you navigate sexual health with your toddler;
Create a comfortable environment for the conversation
Be honest and open while striking a balance between age
Be age concious
Use proper and correct terminologies. Don't use words like “bum” or “pee-hole”
Control your emotions when they ask questions. Don't let it show.
