Hi mama,
Welcome to the second week of October. How are you today? And how’s the heavy lifting of motherhood going? Here’s a little reminder that the beauty of motherhood is filled with a spiral of ups and downs.
You’ve got this mama! 🌟
This week, we discuss semolina for complementary feeding, jaundice in newborns, and, of course, the largest webinar for our UK mamas! 🤭💃
Is Semolina Safe For Babies Less Than 12 Months Old?
Semolina is a yellowish, coarse flour made from wheat durum. It’s popular in most households as it’s excellent for making swallow, baking, and porridge.
It is recommended to introduce solids to babies at 6 months. These solids should be soft textured, digestible foods like mashed fruits, purées, or infant cereals. As they develop, they’ll start exploring solids with different textures.
Watch out for when they start eyeing your food 😍😅
Semolina for babies 6 months and above is a great preparatory meal. It’s rich in nutrients, especially fibre, which helps to prevent constipation.
There are different ways to prepare semolina that your baby can enjoy. This short read will equip you with an easy fix for preparing delicious semolina recipes for your baby.
Remember to slowly introduce solids to check for allergic reactions or specific sensitivities.
Can Inhaling Camphor During Pregnancy Cause Jaundice In Babies?
Camphor is a crystalline substance produced from the camphor wood. It has a very strong and minty fragrance. It’s a common component in local analgesics, pain relievers and insect repellants.
However, inhaling this compound poses adverse health risks like difficulty in breathing, eye irritation and prolonged headache.
In pregnancy, consistent inhalation of camphor may not be safe for the growing baby. It also aggravates the risk of jaundice in newborns.
